Spring cleaning time is here, so why not take the opportunity to add some value to your home at the same time?
Spring is here, which means it’s time for spring cleaning. Why not add some value to your home at the same time? There are some effective ways to do that this year:
- Fresh paint: There’s nothing better; it’s clean, it makes you feel good, and it makes a huge difference in the value of your house. Our exteriors get pretty worn by the weather here, so it’s worth taking a look at if you haven’t painted in the last 10 years. Keep an eye on the trim around your eaves because it’s the first place things will start to fade, especially on the south side thanks to the wind, rain, and sun. If you need a recommendation for a good painter, let me know!
- Clean up hard water spots with vinegar: We have lots of hard water in the area, so I like to unscrew the nozzles in all our sinks and soak them in vinegar overnight to improve water pressure. I’ll also soak shower heads to get rid of lime buildup. It’s never a bad idea to talk to a plumber about your water heater either because calcium buildup around the coils can hurt its longevity.
- Plant a tree: This is the best investment you can make in your home, even if you don’t sell your home for years. You’ll get enjoyment out of it and it will add value to your home when you sell down the road. Any landscaping like that makes a world of difference.
